Turmeric for Health

Good Day!! I hope you are well!!

Turmeric (curcuma longa) has been used for cleansing the liver and anti-inflammatory properties since the beginning for hundreds of years. Turmeric originated in India and is a main staple of the Indian diet. Turmeric is part of the ginger family. Turmeric has been used in Indian Ayurveda medicine for at least 6000 years to treat people of all ages of many illnesses.

The active ingredient in Turmeric is Curcumin. Curcumin has many benefits to promote health and life. The anti inflammatory properties of Turmeric help to increase blood circulation preventing blood clots and hardening of the arteries by dilating the blood vessels. Turmeric contains a chemical enzyme called Lipopolysaccharide which stimulates the body’s proper immune response, thus eliminating chronic inflammation in its tracks.

Turmeric also improves brain function by increasing a chemical called the brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). This increase in BDNF improves the brains function by allowing neurons to split/divide and multiply safely within the brain. It also helps to lower risk of brain disease. A lack of BDNF has been shown to cause depression and alzheimer’s.

Turmeric is very helpful for keep your weight under control. Many components in the turmeric stimulate the gall bladder production of bile. This improves digestion, improves breakdown of dietary fat & reduces symptoms of bloating and gas. Someone who is overweight has many cells around the belly and other areas which are inflamed and called fat. This can be caused by poor food quality, too much stress, too much alcohol or too much sugar. However these symptoms can be put into remission with supplementing turmeric into your diet.

Turmeric has been shown to help with cancer, leukemia and HIV. The cells associated with these sicknesses are put into remission and the symptoms start to subside after 3 days of supplementing with turmeric. Not only does it cause these diseases to go into remission it also protects against and prevents the tumor cells associated with these illnesses.

Some of these health problems are (but it is not limited to):
-Acne

Stimulate your metabolism for more weight loss with this one simple breathing trick

Good Day! I hope you are Well!!

There are two types of breathing there is shallow breathing which occurs mostly in the chest and deep breathing which occurs mostly in the abdominals. Shallow breathing only brings air into the top two lungs & deep breathing brings oxygen into all five of your lungs. Because the oxygen in shallow breathers only reaches the top two lungs, the overactive nerve receptors turn on the “fight or flight” response. The continuous “fight or flight” response causes a build-up of stress chemicals and stress hormones. Whereas when you take deep rhythmic breaths you turn on nerve receptors that have a calm and regenerative effect on the body.

According to Dr. Robert Giller ,M.D., who wrote maximum metabolism, “of the factors affecting metabolism there are more under our jurisdiction than those that aren’t.” This means two very key things, you can change your metabolism and you can change the rate at which your body burns food. Pam Grout in her book Jump start your metabolism stated “ for every 4.8 calories the average person’s body burns 1 Liter of oxygen. In other words, your metabolism is nothing but a measure of how much oxygen you burn.” If you take in more oxygen naturally you are going to burn more oxygen, so the key to weight loss is as simple as taking in more oxygen.

It may surprise you but what you wear can play a big role in your breathing. Have you ever noticed that some clothes are just tight and they don’t allow you to move very well, these are clothes I am talking about. These shirts and jeans can cut off circulation and can cause muscles to turn on or turn off due to a change in how we move.pam grout suggests in her book Jumpstart Your Metabolism to watch out for these clothes:
• “clothes that pinch your waist or squeeze your stomach
• clothes that are too small press enter type belts or waistbands
• tight bras, underwear or socks
• tight belts or waistbands
• tightly knotted scarves or neckties
• high heels or shoes that pinch
• girdles, corsets,” control top” anything”

To increase your metabolism:

1) Take 10 deep breaths, 5 times throughout the day

-it helps if you set an alarm

-do ten deep breaths up waking, with breakfast, with lunch, with dinner, and before bed
2) to take a deep breath allow your abdominals to expand and let your diaphragm drop( this sends chemical messages to your brain to stimulate production of chemicals to relax)

Thank you for reading and remember!

keep calm and breathe deeply
Have a great Day!
Take care! God Bless!

My weight loss story

Hello! I hope you are well!!
Going into my senior year of college at Muskingum University I was over weight, unhealthy, unsatisfied, and un-energetic. Why? Well working 50-70 hour weeks with a fast food ridden diet to much partying and not enough sleep will add 20 lbs around the middle. Just like many Americans I thought to myself “I am going to lose this weight.” When I started my senior year of college I weighed 215 lbs (august 2013) and I now weigh 170 lbs (July 2016). As you can see it took me almost 3 years to change my life for the better.
I started out doing yoga once a week, playing basketball and weightlifting. In August of 2013,I started to do yoga and by December I had overstepped my limits and overworked myself. I did too much and re-injured a hamstring strain I had sustained in baseball the year before. This caused me to have to take time off from exercising so I thought “what can I do now that I can’t exercise? I can change my diet!”
In February 2014, I started researching what foods would be healthier for me and I found out that chicken and fish were great meats for me. I should eat more fruits and vegetables because my diet did not contain many whole foods. The problem with all this was that I wasn’t actually working to become healthier. I was working to build a six pack, so that I would be more attractive. This was the wrong thought to think. I tried all kinds of different plans but none of them worked.
For the next 8 months I tried of running and weight lifting regimens to help build my body and help me lose weight. This was done to no avail. So I switched yet again, back to yoga but this time it was different.
October 2014, I decided I was going to try 2-3 20 minute yoga sessions of modified Sun Salutations to help me build my body.

I started doing more research on the connection of Mind, Body and food as well. I found out that we should each eat the colors of the rainbow to nourish our body. This is because the seven chakras correspond with the colors of the rainbow: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. We should also take 10 deep breaths before eating to relax the parasympathetic nervous system which is the controlling factor of chemicals associated with the “fight or flight response”.

I noticed that my diet was best suited to eat:
(4 am) Breakfast : 3 glasses of water( 1 with apple cider vinegar), 1 banana 1 salad :spring mix, baby romaine, baby kale, baby spinach, grape tomatoes, pistachios, honey,
(7 am) 2nd breakfast: salad (same as breakfast)
(8:30am)Snack: 3 kiwi, cup of cherries, cup of grapes, oranges (if available),1 banana
(10:45 am)Snack: blackberries, blueberries, banana
(12:30-1:00 pm)Lunch: cooked on low in coconut oil: 1 onion, 1 summer squash, 1 zucchini, 1 tomato, 1 chicken breast (sliced thin)
(2-3 pm)Snack: 1 banana, cup of pistachios and kiwi
(5-7pm)Dinner : 1 onion, 1 red bell pepper, 1 yellow bell pepper, 1 green bell pepper,
(9pm) late snack: 2 handfuls of pistachios ( this way the body has a food source for the night and does not feed on your muscles, this is called catabolism)

After completing this journey to a better me I feel better than I have in almost 10 years.

Thank you for reading & have a great Day!!

Take care!!

God Bless!!
